My golf cheat sheet






1. Putting

Posture: legs slightly bent. arms hang down. keep good balance by having feet close together. eyes over the ball. ball slightly forward to hit it on upswing. weight slightly favors left side.

Aim: every putt is a straight putt. align feet, knees, hips, shoulders to target.

Grip: both palms should squeeze putter together.

Swing: use shoulder muscles and arms to swing. lock wrists. right hand guides the face of putt.













2. Chipping

Posture: weight on left leg 60/40. open stance (11 oclock).

Ball position: slightly back.

Grip: open club face (1 oclock). keep wrists bent and in front of the ball.

Swing: use body to turn and hit ball. similar to putting. body turn determines distance. accelerate swing on every shot.








3. Sand Shots

Posture: lots of knee bend. open stance (10 oclock).

Ball position: ball slightly forward

Grip: open club face (1 oclock).

Swing: use body to turn and hit ball. hit 1-3 inches behind ball. use bounce underneath club to thump sand. accelerate swing on every shot. clubhead should swing parallel to my body (10 oclock). take full swing to have good rythm. if ball is buried close head.













4. Pitching

Posture: open stance. Lean your upper body forward from your hip and keep your legs slightly flexed. Balance on the golf balls of your feet, putting slightly more weight on your left foot.

Ball Position: middle of stance

Swing: a shortened version of your full swing - a half swing back and a half swing through.













5. Irons

Aim: pick an intermediate target. align clubhead to that target. then align feet, knees, hips, shoulders to the clubhead.

Posture: knees bent. body weight a little forward on balls of feet. left foot a little open stanced to allow body weight to pivot on it. the longer the club, the wider the stance. hand width distance between body and wrists. arms straight but relaxed. left shoulder higher than right because of the grip.

Ball Position: aligned with heart

6. Woods

Aim: pick an intermediate target. align clubhead to that target. then align feet, knees, hips, shoulders to the clubhead.

Posture: knees bent. body weight a little forward on balls of feet. left foot a little open stanced to allow body weight to pivot on it. the longer the club, the wider the stance. hand width distance between body and wrists. arms straight but relaxed. left shoulder higher than right because of the grip.

Ball Position: left heel

Grip: lighter the grip, more relaxed the muscles, faster the head speed.

Swing: flatter swing plane than irons. feels like hitting more uphill than irons. accelerate swing on every shot. ascending blow to the ball. sweeps ball off the ground.












7. Course Management

With difficult holes, play the hole from green to tee.
